WELCOME TO LISTENING COMPREHENSION 4 SUBJECT


CONGRATULATION for those who have passed the listening comprehension 3 subject, and WELCOME to our next lectures on the listening comprehension 4.

I have already prepared several materials that are going to be our lecturing stuffs in this semester. The discussion will be focusing on how to prepare for facing the listening section of the English standardized tests such as TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS.

The discussions will be guided by a module that introduces you to several kinds of the English standardized tests. However, there will be no assignment during the semester. And it will be substituted by several quiz that should be followed after the discussion completed. Follows are rough schedule of our meetings in the following semester:

3. Preparing for the listening section of TOEIC exam: Part 1 "Identifying Picture" Strategies
4. Preparing for the listening section of TOEIC exam: Part 2 "Question-response" Strategies

6. Mid Term Test (Post-test for the listening section of TOEIC Exam)
7. Introduction to the listening section of TOEFL and IELTS (Pre-test)
8. Listening to Short Conversations
9. Listening to Longer Conversations
10. Listening to Academic Discussions
11. Listening to Lectures
12. Final Exam (Post-test of the Listening Section of TOEFL & IELTS)

1. The quizes will be given after each discussion completed.

MATERIALS FOR LISTENING COMPREHENSION EXAMINATION

Follows are the Instruction and list of downloadable materials for Listening Comprehension 3 Final Examination. Study the instruction before downloading the materials:

Downloading instruction

1) Read the list of materials below
2) Check whether the materials has been downloaded or not by reading the number of students downloaded the materials.
3) Each material can only be downloaded by 3 students by the same class. It means that when you find that it's already 3 students of your class downloaded the same title of materials, you cannot download the title and have to move the other title to be downloaded
4) Fill in the comment space below after you downloaded the material with your, name, student's number, and the title you have chosen.

The Task of the Listening Examination

1) Listen to the audio file you have downloaded
2) make an outline by taking notes
3) Make a summary using your take notes
4) Submit your Outline and Summary result at least on Thursday
5) Prepare to present in Face to Face Examination

Buku ini membahas empat hal menarik yang berkenaan dengan kemampuan menulis bagi mahasiswa seperti:
1) The writing process, yaitu materi yang akan menuntun mahasiswa mulai dari tahap awal tentang bagaimana memahami judul esai, dengan membaca dan membuat catatan, hingga penyusunan esai dan tahap akhir yaitu proof reading.
2) Elements of writing; yaitu materi yang berkenaan dengan ketrampilan-ketrampilan yang diperlukan dalam mengerjakan berbagai macam jenis tugas seperti membuat definisi dan menarik kesimpulan sementara, dan menyusunnya secara berurutan.
3) Accuracy in writing, berisi latihan-latihan yang memfokuskan pada hal-hal yang sering menyulitkan atau membingungkan bagi mahasiswa seperti definite article dan relative pronoun.
4) Writing models; yang menyajikan contoh-contoh dari jenis tulisan yang umumnya diperlukan oleh mahasiswa termasuk menulis surat dan membuat laporan survey.



Teaching Academic ESL Writing

Buku ini bertujuan untuk menjembatani permasalahan yang sering dialami oleh para calon guru saat ini, yaitu yang berkaitan dengan pengajaran bahasa dan mengajarkan ciri-ciri gramatikal dan leksikal yang perlu diketahui oleh siswa yang belajar menulis dalam bahasa inggris. Pada bagian pertama buku ini terdiri dari tiga bab yang menyajikan pengetahuan-pengetahuan yang diperlukan khususnya untuk memahami isi buku selanjutnya, dan menyajikan contoh pedoman kurikulum pengajaran yang diperlukan oleh calon guru bahasa inggris khususnya dalam mengajarkan ketrampilan menulis. Sedangkan pada bagian yang kedua dan ketiga mencakup pembahasan tentang elemen-elemen kunci dari pengajaran bahasa inggris khususnya untuk ketrampilan menulis seperti tentang apa yang seharusnya diajarkan beserta alasannya, aktivitas-aktivitas dalam pengajaran serta masukan-masukan yang diperlukan oleh guru yang disertai pertanyaan-pertanyaan sebagai bahan diskusi.
